If you could modify a past event, it would change your present. This paradox leads to time travel and impossible loops. Say hello to Ren\u00e9 Barjavel (Le Voyageur Imprudent), H.G. Wells, Philip K. Dick, and others who imagined multiple universes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A &#8216;<strong><em>Maybeland<\/em><\/strong>&#8216; is a world where an alternate &#8216;you&#8217; lives \u2014 or maybe not, as you might be dead, or you might never have been born. But some events push your destiny in another direction, so your history is different. You might be living in a different country, be married to a different person, have different kids, or none at all. The whole world may have turned out differently. It&#8217;s a classic theme of sci-fi literature and cinema. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The photo on the album&#8217;s front cover inspired the idea of&nbsp;<em>Maybeland<\/em>: a simple amateur shot taken by Dr Olive&#8217;s father in Bethesda, near Washington DC, in April 1970. Family matters caused Olive&#8217;s family to move back to France, despite his father&#8217;s career and preference to stay in the USA. In a possible parallel &#8220;<em>Maybeland<\/em>,&#8221; the family stayed, and Olive is an American. On his own, Olive released the acclaimed electronic albums&nbsp;<em>First Dee-Jay On The Moon<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Screenage Boogie<\/em>&nbsp;as well as singles for labels like R&amp;S, Missive Music, Dirty Dancing, and his Bazoline imprint. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The formation of&nbsp;<strong>Dr Olive &amp; The Hoperators<\/strong>&nbsp;and the recording of&nbsp;<em>Maybeland<\/em>&nbsp;started in 2014, leading Olive toward a more spacious alternative rock sound. As the years passed, the album project mutated, adding the kosmiche-inspired &#8216;Germanium&#8217; epic and the electronic &#8216;Maybeland Suite&#8217; \u2014 a whimsical Philip K. Dick homage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally completed and released in 2020,&nbsp;<em>Maybeland<\/em>&nbsp;appears on Olive&#8217;s new&nbsp;<strong>3 To The 3rd Music<\/strong>&nbsp;imprint. In this reality,&nbsp;<em>Maybeland<\/em>&nbsp;arrives amid a pandemic.
